With five practice rooms that are used intensively every day, it is only logical that something breaks every now and then. Cables that creak, drum stands that sag, amplifiers that hum. As a result, at Helicopter we have become increasingly adept at repairing, or at least we always make an attempt ourselves before sending or replacing anything.
The people who work at Helicopter also enjoy being able to repair things themselves and are a fan of our DIY approach. That is why we organize a fun workshop with our team from time to time to share knowledge with each other. Last year we received a workshop from our own drum guru Sophie to learn how to replace drum heads and tension them correctly. Last month it was our sound engineer and teacher Martijn’s turn to teach us how to solder cables.
