In one sentence; who is DayFish?
Young fathers, but with the energy of an indoor playground after free candy. Think Dua Lipa, but sexy. Shakira, but with hips that sometimes tell a white lie to the children. With synths from the work laptop, guitars from when we didn’t have fixed costs yet, and drums with the tightness of the monthly mortgage.
Names and back numbers: Sebastiaan Roozendaal, vocals and guitar, Arjan Kuijper, bass, Thijs Polfliet, keys, guitar and vocals, and Armando Marchena on drums.
How do you work on new songs?
Sebastiaan has a kind of musical incontinence. He makes the base, and the rest makes it as funky as possible.
How did you end up at the Helicopter?
We have been coming to Helicopter for five years. Mainly because of the casualness and the atmosphere. And honestly – close to the A10 and easy parking helps too.
What can you tell us about your music?
We make unabashed, unadulterated pop. If a song needs a modulation, a double time or reggaeton, that is included.
Where can we find your music?
In May we recorded our debut single – I Like You The Way You Are!
With producer Frans Hendriks (Doe Maar, Henny Vrienten, Def P & Beatbusters, Beef) in the iconic studio Het Gemengd Bedrijf in Limmen, where Doe Maar’s last album – Versies / Limmen Tapes – was recorded.
Can be found on Spotify, Tidal, Deezer or some other obscure hipster streaming platform.
